Over the weekend SPD conducted a follow-up to apprehend a man who eluded police during an attempted traffic stop 6 days prior. At that time, patrol officers observed the man driving unsafely and violating traffic laws in the downtown area. Officers activated their emergency lights in an attempt to get the driver to pull over, which he did not,  instead swerving through heavy traffic on Division Street. For safety reasons, officers discontinued the effort to contact the driver of the vehicle, which was stolen. Probable cause was established to arrest the suspect for possession of a stolen vehicle and eluding police. Patrol officers were able to determine the identity of the suspect through their investigation. He also had a DOC warrant out for a robbery arrest.

On 6/15/24 patrol officers located the suspect at a north Spokane apartment complex and observed him getting into the passenger side of a car. Officers pinned the vehicle to prevent it from fleeing, at which time the suspect ran from the car until officers quickly caught up with him.  The suspect, Christopher C. Bacon (27) was arrested for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Attempting to Elude Police Vehicle, and Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer. Bacon is a 13 time convicted felon with convictions to include Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Theft of a Stolen Vehicle, Burglary, and Money Laundering. Bacon was booked into the Spokane County Jail on Saturday where his bail was set at $90,000 and remains such after his first court appearance this afternoon.
