Spokane Police Officer involved in shooting Friday afternoon after responding to a Domestic Violence incident. The following information is preliminary; more info will be released at a later time by the Spokane Independent Investigation Response Team

Monday, January 27, 2025 at 9:19 a.m.

On January 24^th, 2025 at approximately 1:53pm, Spokane Police Officers responded to a home in the 200 block of East Sanson Avenue.  911 was contacted by a female caller advising of a disturbance at the residence involving a male.  The caller also advised 911 there was a protection order in place between the two and that she was being threatened. 

Besides the initial female caller, information provided to 911 also indicated there were children in the home as well.  During the call with 911, a hammer was mentioned as possibly being involved.  Officers arrived at the home 2 minutes after the call was made to 911.  After hearing screaming from inside the residence, officers entered the home.  Upon making contact with the male suspect, a single officer fired his duty weapon, striking him.  A second adult in the home was also struck by gunfire.  Officers detained the suspect male and escorted him outside.  Both subjects were provided medical treatment by officers before being transported to local hospitals.  There are no outstanding suspects at this time and no threat to the public in regard to this incident.     

As an involved agency, Spokane Police Department personnel will not be involved in this investigation in compliance with WAC 139-12.

• All future communications will be sent via the SIIR Team. The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is the case managing agency for this incident.
• The Spokane Police Department will release the names of involved officers at a later date.
• Once the SIIR Team investigation is complete, the case will be forwarded to the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
