Description of Proposal

The ordinance would allow for the removal of the exterior stairway located at the northeast corner of Main Avenue and Howard Street, adjacent to the Bennett Block Building. Additional street level pedestrian access will be provided by an internal stair case that is accessible from the public sidewalk on Howard Street. Notice of Public Hearing

The Spokane City Council will hold a public hearing Monday, July 28, 2014, starting at 6 p.m., during the City Council Legislative Session, in the Council Chambers, Lower Level of City Hall, 808 West Spokane Falls Boulevard, Spokane, WA 99201. This public hearing is to take testimony on proposed Ordinance No. C35127 - Draft (PDF 23 KB) for an Ordinance to modify the original Parkade Skywalk approval.

Public Comment and Project Timeline

The City Council will be briefed on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. and hold the 1st Reading on the Staircase Removal on Monday, July 21, 2013 at 6 p.m. There is no public testimony taken during the 1st Reading. The 2nd Reading and opportunity for public comment is scheduled for Monday, July 28, 2014, at 6 p.m., as part of the Legislative Session. At this meeting there will be opportunity for public comment. The public may also submit written comment to the City Council office. Contact the City Council by email at citycouncil@spokanecity.org. The City Council may continue its decision to the next meeting. The City Council may also defer deliberations and decisions to the next meeting.
