Numerica Skate Ribbon

The Skate

The Numerica Skate Ribbon is undergoing a seasonal transition from ice to roller skating. We anticipate reopening for roller skating and scootering activities by Friday, March 29.

Admission to the Numerica Skate Ribbon is free during roller skating season. Visitors wishing to bring their own roller skates, non-motorized scooters, or skateboards are welcome. Helmets are required by law, please bring your own or borrow one of ours. The Numerica Skate Ribbon shares a ticketing facility with the Numerica SkyRide that includes a large windowed indoor dining area, as well as a patio.

General Information
  • Admission to the Numerica Skate Ribbon is free. Rentals are available during posted hours.
  • The Numerica Skate Ribbon is not actively monitored by attendants.
  • Wrist guards, knee and elbow pads are highly recommended.
  • Helmets and safety gear are available for free from the skate rental counter during rental hours.
  • The Numerica Skate Ribbon may close without notice in support of other scheduled activities, rentals or when ribbon surface is wet.
Numerica Skate Ribbon Rules & Regulations
  • Children 15 years and under must be monitored by an adult (ages 18+).
  • Closed toed shoes are required at all times.
  • Roller skates and scooter rentals are not permitted for use outside of the ribbon.
  • Use the ribbon carefully, responsibly and respectfully at all times.
  • Travel only in a counter-clockwise direction with the current flow of traffic.
  • Speed on the ribbon must equal the flow of all other users.
  • Only people wearing skates or using approved devices are permitted on the ribbon.
  • No more than two (2) people may travel together.
  • Report all incidents and injuries to attendants.
  • Personal roller skates, in-line skates, skateboards, scoot bikes, and non-motorized scooters are permitted and must be clean and in good repair with proper safety breaks.
The following are not permitted on the Numerica Skate Ribbon
  • Using the ribbon in a manner that endangers or interferes with the enjoyment experienced by other users.
  • Bicycles and any motorized or electrical powered devices
  • Stopping or standing in a manner which impedes on the flow of traffic.
  • Horseplay, game playing, excessive speed, racing, roughness, or traveling in a dangerous or potentially dangerous fashion.
  • Carrying children or items such as handbags, backpacks, camera, cell phones, portable music players, etc.
  • Jumps, spins, or skating backwards.
  • Eating or drinking.
  • Throwing and kicking objects at any time.
  • Sitting on, leaning, or climbing over the railing.
  • Tobacco products and vaping.
  • Alcohol.

The Bearded Ginger

Riverfront Park is excited to announce our partnership with The Bearded Ginger, a well-known "cheers style" restaurant. The Bearded Ginger will provide food and beverage services at the Numerica Skate Ribbon & SkyRide facility, delivering mouthwatering BBQ alongside a diverse menu while providing an enhanced experience for visitors.

Riverfront Park's Numerica Skate Ribbon consists of a 16' wide and 650' long pathway with a 3,500-square-foot attached pond. Skaters can experience slight inclines and declines as they make their way around a path of ice surrounded by beautiful Northwest-inspired landscape. Complementing the Numerica Skate Ribbon are large, cozy fire pits for spectators and skaters alike to sit around and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa. The Numerica Skate Ribbon shares a ticketing facility with the Numerica SkyRide that includes The Bearded Ginger with a variety of delicious food and large windowed dining area.

  • Ribbon has upward and downward elevation changes
  • Skate carefully, responsibly and respectfully at all times
  • Follow the instructions of the skate attendants
  • Skate only in the direction currently being indicated by the skating attendants
  • Speed of skating at all times must equal the flow of all other skaters
  • Only people wearing skates are allowed on the ice surface
  • No more than two (2) people may skate together

  • Skating when ice resurfacing is being completed
  • Skating in a manner that endangers or interferes with the enjoyment of other skaters

Does the Numerica Skate Ribbon offer any discounts?

Groups of 10 or more receive 15% off admission and skate rental when paying with a single payment for the group.

What sizes are your rental skates?

We have hockey and figure skates ranging from sizes 1-14 and children's size 6-13.

Are wheelchairs allowed on the ice?

Yes, but anyone accompanying guest in wheelchair must wear skates while on the ice.

Can I walk on the ice without skates?

No. Anyone on the ice must be wearing ice skates (unless in wheelchair).

Can I carry my small child while on the ice?

No. Carrying a child or anyone on the ice is strictly prohibited.

What is the difference between hockey and figure ice skates?

Figure skates come in women's sizes and have a straighter blade surface with a front toe pick. Hockey skates come in men's sizes and have a slight curve at the front tip of the blade and no toe pick.

Are pets allowed on the ice?

No.

Does Riverfront provide skate sharpening services?

No.

Can I bring my beverage on the ice?

No, food and drink are not allowed on ice.

Does Riverfront Park provide skate aids (similar to walkers)?

Yes, only for disabled guests, not as a teaching aid.

Do we need to make reservations for groups/school groups?

We ask all groups of 10 or more to submit a Group Visit Form in advance. This not only alerts us to your presence at the park, but also enables us to provide the best possible experience for your group. Groups of 10 people or more receive 15% off adult admission tickets when paying on a single transaction in person. Please submit your Group Visit Form a minimum of seven days before your visit.

Where is the best place to park if I want to visit the Numerica Skate Ribbon?

There is also a parking garage just across the street from the Numerica Skate Ribbon at River Park Square. Please visit their Parking webpage for rates and hours.
The City's parking meters are free after 7PM daily and on Sundays and major holidays. More info.

Will Riverfront Park be offering group or private skate lessons this year?

Riverfront Park is partnering with Lake City Figure Skating Club and offering Learn to Skate Group Lessons. Learn the FUNdamentals of ice skating, learn new skills, increase self-confidence, and make lots of fun memories. All ages are welcome. Registration is required prior to the first group lesson date on 12/3/22.

Lake City Figure Skating coaches will be on site during Coaches Corner to provide tips and assistance to emerging skaters on Saturdays (12/3 – 12/17 & 1/7 – 1/28). Skate admission is required.
