Garbage Services

To help keep Spokane clean and safe, weekly garbage collection within the city limits is required for all occupied residences. Brown carts are provided to each household to collect garbage and place out on the curb for pickup.

Residents can choose the size of garbage cart that meets their needs. Rates are based on cart size.

30 gallon – $23.22 each per month
60 gallon – $42.04 each per month
90 gallon – $61.39 each per month

An extra bag, can or box of garbage will be picked up for $5.44. Get more information on the Utility Rates page.

Bulk items & large loads: We have a variety of dumpsters you can rent on a temporary basis, or we can haul away large or bulky items.

Temporary dumpsters come in four sizes and can be rented for two days to six months, depending on your needs. Smaller dumpsters can be delivered the next business day, while larger ones take a couple of business days. Within the City of Spokane, use of temporary dumpsters from companies other than the City of Spokane Solid Waste Collection is prohibited. To have large or bulky items picked up on your collection day, please call 311, or for outside city limits, 509.755.CITY (2489), to make arrangements in advance. Calling ahead ensures that we send the right type of truck by that day!
