Spokane Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ)

Spokane is home to three of Washington’s Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ).

If your company imports components for distribution or manufactures finished products that are exported, Washington’s Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ) can offer you a tremendous competitive advantage. Businesses with operations in a FTZ can receive foreign merchandise for storage, assembly, manufacturing and processing without being subject to formal Customs entry procedures, duties and federal excise taxes. These fees are not due until the merchandise is transferred from the FTZ and is ready for consumption by U.S. customers. If the goods are exported, then no duties or taxes are paid on those items. Learn more about Washington’s FTZs.

The operating authority of Spokane Airports is the Spokane Airport Board, consisting of seven appointees from the two governmental bodies. The Board annually invests approximately $30 million in capital improvements utilizing various funding sources.

The Board operates three facilities: Spokane International Airport, Felts Field Airport, and the Airport Business Park. The Board also has a Grant of Authority to operate Foreign Trade Zone #224.

Spokane International Airport is a 6,140-acre commercial service airport served by eight airlines and two air cargo carriers. The airport processed over 4.1 million total passengers and 68,981 U.S. air cargo tons in 2019. It is the second largest airport in the State of Washington and recognized by the FAA as a small hub.

A Rail-Truck Transload Facility is also strategically located adjacent to the interstate (I-90), a Class 1 rail line, and Spokane International Airport.

Felts Field is a 400-acre general reliever airport that had over 60,000 aviation operations in 2019 and is home to over 200 aircraft and nine commercial tenants. The airport has a Fixed Based Operator and avionic services available. The Airport has two paved runways and a turf landing strip as well as the ability to accommodate water landings on the adjacent Spokane River.

The Airport Business Park is an industrial and business park development that comprises 600 acres. Strategically located adjacent to the airport facilities and Interstate 90, it has 28 buildings and 22 tenants.
