8:21 a.m. - Stain-soaked rags and paper towels left in a recycling bin accidentally started a fire that damaged a garage Friday evening.

3:32 p.m. - At 3:54 p.m. on April 5, the Fire Dispatch center received a 911 call for a fire at the Cedar Spring Estate IV apartments, 7808 N. Morton St.

3:41 p.m. - A man trapped in a basement escaped serious injury when firefighters enlarged a window and helped him from his burning home.
