On Saturday at 6:30 p.m., units from the Spokane Fire Department (SFD)were dispatched to a structure fire in the 2800 block of N. Perry St.

Fire Department crews arrived within three minutes and found a single-family home with fire coming from the front door as well as smoke emitting from multiple windows and the roof. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within 15 minutes while simultaneously ventilating and searching from possible victims. The structure ultimately sustained fire and heavy smoke damage throughout.

One resident was displaced by the fire and was assisted by the Red Cross with lodging for the night.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury combating the fire, but was treated on scene by Spokane Fire Department Paramedics. The firefighter was able to return to duty.

The SFD Special Investigation Unit (SIU) was on scene to determine the cause of the fire and returned Sunday to continue their investigation. The official cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
