8:28 a.m. - A smoke alarm installed earlier this year by the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) helped residents quickly evacuate during a house fire last night.

Cause of yesterday’s house fire under investigation

7:45 a.m. - Yesterday just after 5:30 p.m., the Spokane Fire Department responded to the 600 block of S. Regal St. for a reported house on fire.

12:19 p.m. - SFD fire investigators have determined improperly discarded smoking materials caused last week’s fatal apartment fire.

2:39 p.m. - The cause of yesterday’s duplex fire in the 300 block of E. Wabash Ave. has been declared undetermined by fire investigators.

One person dies in early morning fire

7:43 a.m. - One person has died after an early morning apartment fire in the Hillyard neighborhood.
