Resident displaced after house fire in North Spokane

One resident was displaced after a house fire in North Spokane. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Saturday evening just after at 9:30 p.m., units from the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) were dispatched to the 600 block of E. Wellesley Ave. for a reported house fire.

Fire Department crews arrived within minutes and found a two story, single-family home with fire coming from the windows of the second floor as well as smoke emitting from multiple windows and the roof vents. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within 15 minutes, while simultaneously ventilating and searching for possible victims. The structure ultimately sustained fire and heavy smoke damage throughout.

One resident was displaced by the fire. There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.

SFD Special Investigation Unit (SIU) was on scene to determine the cause of the fire and returned on Sunday to continue their investigation. The official cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
