Body Recovered by SFD Water Rescue Team

At approximately 7:45 this morning, the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) Dispatch Center received a call from the Upriver Dam requesting assistance in the removal of an obviously deceased person from the river. The SFD Water Rescue Team responded to the incident and utilized the team's personnel using kayaks to free the body from entrapment and remove it from the water. The time lapsed during the incident was approximately 30-minutes.  

In addition to emergency response for all types of rescue incidents in or near the water, the SFD Water Rescue Team responds with regularity to aid in the recovery of deceased persons in any body of water within the City of Spokane.

At the time of this release, no further information relating to the victim or circumstances surrounding the death are available from the SFD.
