At 7:42 PM, on Friday, July 24, the Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting a house fire in northeast Spokane. As dispatchers were taking the 9-1-1 call, a Spokane Fire Department (SFD) ladder company in the area came across the fire and immediately went to work. The ladder company reported the house appeared to be vacant and was boarded up. There was heavy fire involvement to the rear of the home.

A rapid interior search was conducted to ensure the structure was clear of any occupants despite the appearance that it was vacant. Crews were able to quickly confirm the home was clear and aggressively extinguished the fire. The fire was confined to the rear of the structure, which prevented damage to surrounding buildings.

A total of 30 firefighters responded to the incident.

No injuries to civilian or SFD personnel were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the SFD Special Investigations Unit.
