More than 40 Spokane Fire Department (SFD) firefighters, Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and Fire District 9 firefighters (SCFD9) initiated a regional response of firefighters to a wildland fire near 4001 East Euclid (Beacon Hill) this morning.

At 06:17 AM, SREC numerous several 911 calls reporting several fires on the hillside. The size of the fire by callers was described as "a couple of blocks" long. When fire companies arrived, they found four separate fires throughout the hillside moving slowly in mixed timber and brush.

The fire was 100% contained within 2-hours after arriving. DNR firefighters will maintain a presence throughout this morning and keep a close eye on the burn area to ensure the volatile vegetation does not reignite.

The fire's nature is incendiary, and the person(s) responsible have not been identified. The SFD and DNR's investigation case will remain open, awaiting additional information.
