Shortly after 1:00 PM on January 14, 2023, the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) was dispatched to a citizen report of a structure on fire at 2116 South Inland Empire Way.

First-arriving companies discovered a single-wide manufactured home with light smoke showing from the eaves, indicating a dangerously unstable atmosphere inside the structure. Firefighters forced entry and located a working fire in the kitchen area, rapidly spreading into the home's living areas. Firefighters deployed hose lines to the fire immediately to stop the fire's advance. Simultaneously, firefighters searched and ventilated the structure to remove heat and dangerous smoke while limiting the fire's damage to the property and contents.

The homeowners are temporarily displaced and are being assisted by the Greater Inland Red Cross. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians, but unfortunately, one of the homeowners' cats did not survive.? The cause of the fire remains under investigation by SFD Investigators.
