Spokane City Council will hold public hearing Monday, July 28, 2014 at 6 p.m. over Bennett Block Skywalk Staircase Removal

The Spokane City Council will hold a public hearing Monday, July 28, 2014, starting at 6:00 p.m.., during the City Council Legislative Session, in the Council Chambers, Lower Level of City Hall, 808 West Spokane Falls Boulevard, Spokane, Washington. This public hearing is to take testimony on proposed Ordinance No. C35127 (Draft) for an Ordinance to modify the original Parkade Skywalk approval.
The ordinance would allow for the removal of the exterior stairway located at the northeast corner of Main Avenue and Howard Street, adjacent to the Bennett Block Building. Additional street level pedestrian access will be provided by an internal stair case that is accessible from the public sidewalk on Howard Street.
The City Council will be briefed on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. and hold the 1st Reading on the Staircase Removal on Monday, July 21, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. There is no public testimony taken during the 1st Reading. The 2nd Reading and opportunity for public comment is scheduled for Monday, July 28, 2014, at 6:00 p.m., as part of the Legislative Session.
