City to Discuss, Demonstrative Vehicle Boot

City Parking will discuss the wheel-lock program scheduled to launch this month and demonstrate the 'boot' that will be used for those who qualify for immobilization by having four or more citations in collections.  There are 2,778 owner/vehicle combinations with four or more unpaid tickets.  Scofflaw Notices are being mailed next week to the owners of these vehicles. They represent 27,785 tickets with a total principal balance of $1,220,222.

All outstanding tickets, including those that will receive the Scofflaw Notice, total 73,100 tickets and $3,862,216.  The scofflaw offenders represent about one-third of all outstanding infractions in collections.
