Dan Kegley, the City’s Water and Wastewater Director, has been named the Chair Elect for the Pacific Northwest Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). Kegley will go on to serve as chair in 2017.

“Dan is helping to lead our region on water policy issues and practices that protect public health and the environment,” says Rick Romero, the City’s Utilities Division Director. “We are proud of his leadership in this important organization.”

Kegley joined the City’s Water Department in 1991 as a laborer, working with the grounds crew. After making the rounds through several Water Department crews and then through several management positions, Kegley was named the Water Department Director in 2013. In 2016, he also became responsible for managing the wastewater collection system within the public right of way.

Kegley has been involved with the American Water Works Association since 2000 and has served on the board of the Pacific Northwest Section since 2014.

Established in 1881, the American Water Works Association is the largest nonprofit, scientific and educational association dedicated to managing and treating water, the world’s most important resource. With approximately 50,000 members, AWWA focuses on improving public health, protecting the environment, strengthening the economy and enhancing quality of life.
