Spokane, Washington – At a recent Spokane Public Library Board of Trustees meeting, the Board endorsed the 2016 Library Master Plan to build the 21st century Spokane Public Library. The next step is to hold community-wide conversations as the library envisions a library system that is aligned with existing community strategies and resources to deliver high quality education, build strong communities and partnerships, and provide free access to information.
“We are excited to take this vision to the community for input and feedback as we create the 21st century library that allows us to respond to emerging community needs. We are looking to not only bridge the technology divide, but to create safe and welcoming spaces for children, teens, and the community,” said Andrew Chanse, executive director of Spokane Public Library.
Community conversations will be held in the coming months at the following locations and times:

We recognize that citizens depend more than ever on time-honored library services. Advances in technology enable the library to provide access across a variety of media and platforms.
“Spokane has always prided itself as a great place to raise a family, but now we actually have young people staying and returning to Spokane to live and work. We need a library system that meets people's evolving needs, a go-to place for families of all kinds,” said Anne Walter, Board of Trustee member.
