Spokane Mayor David Condon, following a declaration by President Barack Obama, has directed that United States and Washington State flags at all City facilities be lowered to half-staff in remembrance of the victims of the mass shooting in Orlando.

“Yesterday was a time of celebration as our community hosted its 25th Pride Parade through downtown Spokane,” Condon said. “Today, Spokane stands in solidarity with the rest of the nation in denouncing the hate and violence of the unconscionable act of domestic terrorism in Orlando. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Orlando and across the country whose friends, family and loved ones have been harmed by this tragedy.”

Flags will remain lowered until sundown on June 16. Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.
