Spokane City Council will host a meet and greet Monday, June 20 at the Public Safety meeting for Daisy, the police department’s newest K9 member.

“We are excited to have a trailing dog of this kind as part of the K9 team,” Council Member Lori Kinnear says.

Kinnear is the Chair of the Public Safety Committee that reviews legislation regarding police and fire prior to being voted on by the Council.

Daisy is the first “trailing” dog of this breed for the police department. A community member donated the vast majority of the money necessary to purchase the dog and get both the dog and handler initial training.

Daisy and Sgt. Jason Reynolds will also do a short demonstration of Daisy’s skills at the beginning of the meeting. Lt. Mark Griffiths will also be there to discuss the K9 unit.

The Public Safety meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. at City Hall, 808 West Spokane Falls Blvd. in the Briefing Center (basement).
