Get Real. Be Recycled! That’s the sentiment and this year’s theme for 2016 Spokane County Recycles Poster Contest.

The contest, sponsored by the Spokane County Regional Solid Waste System, invites students in kindergarten through eighth grade to submit artwork focused on an annual waste reduction theme. Winners will be selected to illustrate the county’s 2017 Spokane County Recycles calendar.

2016 Contest Theme: “Get Real. Be Recycled!”

Students in grades k-8 who either live in or attend schools in jurisdictions that participate in the Spokane County Regional Solid Waste System are invited to enter the 17th annual poster contest.

Finalists will have their work displayed in River Park Square from Oct. 28 through Nov. 17 as part of America Recycles Day, a national celebration that takes place November 15. Thirteen of the finalists’ work also will be used to illustrate a 2017 calendar with hints on how to reduce waste, and student artists will be recognized at the November 1st meeting of the Spokane Board of County Commissioners.

Contest Deadline: Friday, October 14

Posters must be on letter-sized paper, oriented horizontally, and done in colored pencils, markers, or crayons, no 3-D collages accepted. A complete list of participating school district, other rules and a registration form can be obtained at www.spokanecountysolidwaste.org or by calling 625.6580.
