The City of Spokane will host an open house to introduce a master planning process to accommodate a stormwater project envisioned for City Park property along the Spokane River between TJ Meenach Drive and the Downriver Disc Golf Course.

The open house will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Downriver Golf Course Clubhouse, 3225 N. Columbia Circle.

The project provides an opportunity to improve these park lands, and the City encourages users of the disc golf course, along with boaters, hikers, mountain bikers, neighbors and community members, to attend the open house. This is the first step in developing a master plan for the park property and the stormwater project.

The project is needed to manage stormwater from a large area on the City’s North Side called the Cochran Basin. This basin contributes about 300 million gallons of untreated stormwater to the Spokane River annually.  Work would be part of the City’s efforts to improve the health of the Spokane River.
