Riders of STA busses and passengers at Spokane International Airport can now donate spare change within the STA Plaza and at the security screening checkpoints in both terminals of the Spokane International Airport to help provide shelter for those experiencing homelessness. The installation of the new change collection containers supports the City’s plan to end homelessness. The City’s “Give Real Change” program helps homeless individuals have a place to sleep and find services 24/7.

“We appreciate our partnership with STA and the airport,” said Spokane Mayor David Condon. “We want to say ‘thank you’ to those who use these modes of transportation and for showing that Spokane truly cares about all of its people.”

STA installed one Give Real Change collection container at the downtown STA Plaza between the north south corridors.

“The STA Plaza is in the heart of Downtown Spokane and plays an important role in making important connections for a wide spectrum of people working in many ways to improve their lives,” said Customer & Community Relations Manager, Brandon Rapez-Betty. “It’s both practical and symbolic to highlight this important program and message in this location.”

The airport installed two Give Real Change collection containers at each of the screening checkpoints, one at the A/B screening checkpoint and one at the C screening checkpoint.

“As a partner through the City’s co-ownership of the airport, the Spokane Airport Board fully supports the Give Real Change initiative,” said Larry Krauter, CEO Spokane Airports. “We hope that voluntary contributions from the generosity of passengers and employees at the Airport will bring additional resources to the City's efforts to address homelessness.

The City has installed “Give Real Change” program donation meters at over 12 locations throughout the city. Donors can contribute spare change or make credit card donations. City utility customers can also round up their monthly bills or make additional contributions. Donations can also be made by calling 311.
