The City of Spokane will host a third Open House to present master plan concepts to accommodate stormwater and improve Downriver Park along the Spokane River between TJ Meenach Drive and the Downriver Disc Golf Course.

The open house will be held on Wednesday, March 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Downriver Golf Course Clubhouse, 3225 N. Columbia Circle.

The City encourages neighbors, disc golfers, boaters, hikers, mountain bikers and community members, to attend the open house and provide comments on concepts for future improvements to these park lands. This location includes a boat put-in at TJ Meenach, the Downriver Disc Golf Course, and shoreline in between.

This is the next step in development a master plan for the park property and a needed stormwater project. Ultimately, Downriver Park will seek to accommodate stormwater facilities and multiple types of public users while balancing shoreline conservation and management requirements.

The project is needed to manage stormwater from a large area on the City’s North Side called the Cochran Basin. This basin contributes about 300 million gallons of untreated stormwater to the Spokane River annually. Work would be part of the City’s efforts to improve the health of the Spokane River.
