Spokane Mayor David Condon, following a declaration by President Donald Trump, has directed that United States and Washington State flags at all City facilities be lowered to half-staff to honor former First Lady Barbara Bush.

“Mrs. Bush was only the second woman in American history to be both first lady and first mother. She was an American treasure and will be greatly missed,” Condon said. “We encourage anyone with a flag outside their home or business to join us in this recognition to honor her memory.”

Former First Lady Barbara Bush passed away April 17, 2018 with her husband, President George H.W. Bush by her side. Her funeral is scheduled for Saturday, April 21 at St. Martin’s Church in Houston, Texas.
