Spokane Mayor David Condon is providing the following statement about the City Council’s decision to override his veto on an ordinance that sets a community-wide goal of 100 percent renewable energy for electricity by 2030:

“I am disappointed that the City Council rushed to override my veto, rather than take some time to work together to develop revised legislation that can move our community forward on sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy resources that is affordable for citizens. The goal is important, but I want to address this issue in the best way for our community. I remain hopeful that the Council and my administration can revisit this ordinance to get to a place that will result in actions we can take and meaningful change.”
