A public open house to provide feedback on certain design options for Riverside Avenue in downtown Spokane has been set for Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Spokane Transit Plaza 2nd Floor Rotunda, 701 W. Riverside Ave., from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Riverside Avenue between Monroe Street and Division Street will be rebuilt in coming years, beginning as early as 2021. Earlier public outreach and feedback on the project determined that the street should include three travel lanes, the addition of bike lanes, and maximizing parking.

At the February event, citizens can learn about some final options to increase parking on Riverside Avenue and the balance between parking and traffic flow. Additional information will be available about how bicycle facilities fit with the parking options. Citizens will be asked to provide their preferences about how the design elements will come together.

An online survey to gather feedback on the options will be available through the beginning of February. A link will be provided on the city website after the public open house. This feedback will be incorporated into the final design scope. Design of the project will then take place through the winter with the initial phase of construction starting as soon as spring of 2021.
