Spokane Mayor David Condon will release the Proposed 2020 Program Budget this week, and a number of opportunities are planned for citizens to learn about the budget during September.

The budget proposal relies on the priorities and initiatives identified in the City’s joint Council-Administration Strategic Plan, One Spokane.

Citizens can learn about the 2020 budget proposal at:

  • The Community Assembly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 5 p.m. in Council Briefing Center in the lower level of City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.
  • The West Central Community Center, 1603 N. Belt, on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 5 p.m.
  • A Telephone Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 6 to 7 p.m. Residents will be contacted using technology that allows the City to call thousands of people to ask if they want to participate in the meeting. Citizens can also opt into the meeting by calling 877.353.4701 between 6 and 6:45 p.m. or watching it live in City Hall, on CityCable 5, or on the City’s Facebook page @spokanecity.

The program budget is the first step in the 2020 budget process. The Mayor will deliver the proposed line-item budget to the Council by Nov. 1, and Council is required to adopt a balanced budget prior to the end of the year.
