Those who participated in the protest this afternoon did so respectfully and peacefully.
A second, separate group become aggressive downtown after the local protest largely ended.
We are encouraging everyone to immediately leave downtown. Unfortunately, onlookers are gathering with those who are causing problems in our city.
In order to disperse people from downtown, give everyone a chance to cool down, Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward has enacted a curfew beginning immediately until 5 am Monday. The order is in effect from Division to Maple street and Fifth Avenue to Boone Street.
