High Traffic Impacts This Week

In addition to planned construction, utility repairs will impact high-traffic areas this week. Motorists are urged to plan ahead, allow for extra time, and look for detour changes. Please slow down for everyone’s safety and make the extra effort to support businesses impacted by the necessary projects. 57th Ave. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Rebecca St. and Palouse Hwy.
City of Spokane Water Dept. is fixing a leaking water main on the south hill. Beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, eastbound 57th Ave. traffic will be moved to the center lane between Rebecca St. and Palouse Highway. The street is expected to reopen by 5:30 p.m. This street location is outside City limits, however, the water main is part of the City’s water system.

What to Expect: (see attached map)

  • East and west bound traffic on 57th Ave. will experience slowdowns for the entire day.
  • This area is near Moran Prairie Elementary School and the STA Moran Station Park and Ride.
  • Drivers are encouraged to allow for extra time.

Three intersections will be closed for east and west travel through Washington St. between Maxwell Ave. and North River Dr.
A grind and overlay project requires the need to reduce Washington St. to one lane in each direction on Wednesday, Sept. 11 starting early in the morning and through the entire day.

What to Expect: (see attached map)

  • The intersections of Maxwell/Mission Ave., Boone Ave., and North River Dr. along Washington St. will be CLOSED for paving.
  • Drivers will need to travel east and west on Indiana Ave. and Spokane Falls Blvd. when intersecting with Washington St.
  • Drivers not accessing the area for specific needs are encouraged to use alternate arterial routes such as Division St. and Monroe St.

Francis Ave. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Belt St. and Elm St. near 5-Mile shopping center.
Francis Ave. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Belt St. and Elm St. for a sewer station repair. Flaggers will be on hand and traffic controls will be in place. This work will begin at 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12 and continue for the entire day until work is complete.

What to Expect: (see attached map)

  • East and west bound traffic on Francis Ave. will experience significant slowdowns for the entire day.
  • The center turn-lane on Francis Ave. will also be closed between Belt St. and Elm St.
  • Drivers are encouraged to use alternate east and west arterial routes if possible.
