Today, we launched Spokane Gives, a community-wide initiative designed to celebrate and encourage volunteerism and track volunteer efforts in our community. Local nonprofits and corporations are sponsoring volunteer events for the week of April 12 – April 19.
Those include our partnering sponsors, Spokane County United Way, Empire Health Foundation, corporate partners, Windermere Real Estate and Spokane Teachers Credit Union, and Second Harvest and Spokane Public Schools, both of which have jumped onboard as early participants in Spokane Gives Week.
In addition to scheduled events, any act of service, from working at a local homeless shelter to mowing a neighbor's yard will also be tracked.
Spokane Gives will expand compassion and volunteerism while providing a means to measure the impact of that volunteerism. The goal: as many people involved in as many volunteer activities as possible.
Visit spokanegives.org. It provides a place for organizations to post projects, volunteers to find projects that fit their interests and passions, and track volunteer hours. This site will function year-round providing opportunities for both organizations and volunteers to demonstrate their compassion in our community.
