Lincoln/Monroe to receive a major facelift from 8th to 17th

A section of Lincoln/Monroe Street from 8th to 17th Avenue will close this summer and fall to receive a major facelift. This construction will provide some major updates to utilities, sidewalks, lighting, stormwater and landscaping. An open house was held on March 27 to discuss the upcoming construction.

Community engagement is an important aspect of street development for utility and quality-of-life improvements that are practical, useful and cost-effective. The planned improvements for Lincoln/Monroe will advance the pedestrian and community environment and encourage safety for bikers and walkers alike. The stormwater improvements will continue the City's work toward getting to a cleaner river faster.

The following work is scheduled:

  • Traffic lane revisions
  • Narrowing of the road
  • Addition of drainage – stormwater swales
  • Removal of the northbound slip lane
  • Removal of parking from 14th to 17th avenues
  • Full depth pavement rehabilitation
  • Replacement of the water distribution main
  • Installation of ADA complaint ramps
  • Addition of pedestrian lighting at 10th and 14th Avenue intersections.

This $2.1 Million project is funded by:

  • 10-Year Street Bond
  • Integrated Funds
