Wednesday morning, Mayor David Condon read a story to a group of Spokane's youth at Salk Middle School's Summer Reading Program.
Before reading a book chosen by the kids ("Substitute Creacher" by Chris Gall), the Mayor chatted with the children about reading and what they like most about summer. When the Mayor asked if anyone knew what the Mayor did, one student replied, "You take care of the city."
After the questions, Mayor Condon began to read the book to the crowd. The young audience sat quietly to enjoy the Mayor telling "Substitute Creacher's" story of an unusual substitute teacher.
