It’s that time of year when winter is rapidly approaching. To help you plan, My Spokane 311 would like to remind everyone of some important dates.
This year Veteran’s Day is on Sunday; this means there will be no changes in your garbage pickup and curbside recycling the week of Monday, Nov. 12! Veteran’s Day falls on a Sunday and the parking holiday will be observed on Monday, Nov. 12; meters do not need to be plugged Monday.
Your garbage pickup and curbside recycling service will be a day late the week of Thanksgiving for those with Thursday and Friday service. Our curbside yard and food waste service customers have until Friday, Nov. 30 to finish their fall yard cleanup. If you need your green cart emptied during the winter months, there is an extra charge of $4.09.
Our Street Department is also focusing on leaf pickup! The City’s leaf pickup service will start Monday, Nov. 12 in the Audubon Neighborhood. This service is intended to remove leaves that naturally fall into the streets; residents should not rake leaves into the street. You can check the progress of the Street Department on the Leaf Pickup web page.
Our golf courses are starting to close for the season. Your last day to golf at Qualchan is Sunday, Nov. 11, and Esmeralda is closing intermittently but open when conditions allow (call the course to inquire, 509.487.6291) . The Indian Canyon and Downriver Golf Courses are already closed for winter.
For those of you ready for winter already, the Skate Ribbon at Riverfront Spokane is expected to open for ice skating in mid-November. You can purchase an unlimited season pass online for $32.95 or $27.95 for a child (age 3-12). The official opening date will be announced on the Riverfront Spokane website
