This month’s video features the Manito-Cannon Hill Neighborhood. It is located on the South Hill and named after the two parks that dominate its setting: Manito Park, one of Spokane’s flagship parks, and Cannon Hill Park, a neighborhood park.

Trying to find a way to beat the heat? All splash pads, pools and the rotary fountain are great places to cool down for free. Splash pads are operational daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 19 parks, and the City’s six aquatic centers offer free open swim Mondays through Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. with some evening swims.

Spokane Public Library locations also are great places to seek relief from the heat and read a book. Some library locations may have extended weekend operating hours during extreme heat.

It is special events season! Don’t miss the cool events happening in Manito-Cannon Hill and other neighborhoods:

  • Browne’s Addition Summer Concert series on Thursday nights at 6 p.m.
  • Tacos y Tequila Festival August 24 and 25, from 1 to 10 p.m.
  • Manito Plant Sale on August 24, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Pig Out in the Park food and music festival, held over Labor Day Weekend.
  • And more! Check out the neighborhood calendar to find upcoming events.
