Adopting a Park means your group is committed to routine volunteer efforts to care for a park for at least one year. This could be:
Your group can be large or small. We ask that at least one person from your group has already volunteered with Spokane Parks & Recreation as a first step. If no one has yet, we'd love to help coordinate! We list opportunities on our volunteer page. The next step is to fill out this form and tell us more!
Forming a Park Friends group is the next step after forming an “Adopt A Park” program. Park Friends groups:
We ask that Park Friends groups have at least one year of Adopt a Park experience. Adopt a Park groups don't need to become Park Friends groups unless they are interested in adding the above scope to their work.
Park Friends groups need to do a few things that are not required of Adopt a Park groups, due primarily to the fundraising component. These are:
