The Spokane Park Board and staff have been working with the Public Facilities District (PFD) to finalize plans involving the Centennial Trail, Spokane River access, Convention Center expansion, and a boat put in and take out at the Division Street Bridge river access.
Following considerable discussion this week in the media and among the public, the Park Board approved a resolution yesterday that conditionally allows the PFD to temporarily close the Centennial Trail and complete shoreline restoration on Park property, along with the PFD’s support to pay for the construction of the boat put in and take out.
In the agreement, Parks and Recreation will take the lead role in moving the river access through permitting and will maintain the access in the future. The PFD has already paid for the design and will pay for the construction costs.
