Spokane celebrates 59th Arbor Day

On Friday, April 29, Mayor David Condon will kick off an Arbor Day Celebration by helping to plant a tree at a citizen’s home and reading the Arbor Day proclamation. 

The tree to be planted is part of the free tree giveaway, a Forest Spokane initiative to have 10,000 trees planted in Spokane to help keep the Spokane River clean and mitigate storm water runoff.

WHAT:Arbor Day celebration 

Arbor Day celebrations will continue on Saturday at Finch Arboretum at 11 a.m., where Mayor Condon will receive the Tree City USA honor for our city. This will mark Spokane’s 13th year as a Tree City USA. The event lasts until 2 p.m. with family-friendly activities, and is free to the public.
