Incident Number: 13-233335

Patrol officers responded to a residential burglary in the 1000 block of west 11th this morning just before 3:30 a.m. Officers were able to swiftly apprehend 25 year old Charles M. Chatburn after a short pursuit. He was booked into Spokane County Jail for Residential Burglary, Attempting to Elude, 3rd Degree Assault on officers, Resisting Arrest and DUI.

The incident started early this morning when the victim called 911 and advised Chatburn, an acquaintance, had broken into her apartment. The victim was able to provide a description of both Chatburn and his vehicle. Once officers arrived on scene, they saw a red pickup truck similar to what the victim had described and attempted to stop it. Chatburn failed to stop and led officers on a brief but slow traffic pursuit. After a successful PIT maneuver officers were able to block Chatburn's truck in but Chatburn still attempted to get away. Chatburn then exited the truck from one of its windows and tried to run from officers. Once officers were able to Chatburn on the ground, he continued to be combative even after they were able to handcuff him.

Once Chatburn was completely restrained so he could not harm himself or anyone else, he was transported to a local hospital to be medically cleared for jail. He was later booked for the above charges. No officers were seriously injured during the altercation.
