Incident #:13-0431591 & 13-0431578
Through intelligence gathering, directed patrols, quick response, and a detailed follow-up investigation, Spokane Police arrest three people in connection to several burglaries and attempted burglaries in the neighborhood north of Indian Trail/Francis. Two of the three suspects have extensive criminal histories with previous Burglary and Attempted Burglary convictions. Additionally, evidence recovered from the suspects indicates their involvement in a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office vehicle prowling and identity theft case from several weeks ago.
On 12/27 Spokane Police Crime Analysts noticed an increase in burglary and vehicle prowling in the neighborhood north of Indian Trail/Francis. This information was communicated to officers prior to their patrol shift on 12/27 and 12/28.
On the afternoon of 12/28, Spokane Police Det. Willard was working patrol and immediately responded to a report of a residential burglary in the 7000 block of N. F Street. As Det. Willard was taking the report, a homeowner interrupted a different residential burglary in the 3500 block of W. Bruce, committed by individuals matching the same suspect description and vehicle description as the previous burglary.
Sgt. Vigesaa immediately responded to the area and directed officers to search for the suspects. Ofc. Aitken, one of the responding officers located the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Ash and Cleveland and followed it to a residence in the 2300 N. Madison where officers assisted him in taking three suspects into custody: 29-year-old Daryl M. Ford, 25-year-old Amanda W. Macklin and 19-year-old Jordan D. Newkirk.
Sgt. Hartman, Patrol Anti-Crime Team (PACT) members, and Neighborhood Conditions Officer Traci Ponto responded to the Madison address to conduct a follow-up investigation on the burglaries. A search warrant for the Madison home was executed and officers recovered property believed to be stolen, as well as property stolen in a Spokane Valley vehicle prowling incident that occurred several weeks ago.
Additionally, a search warrant will be executed for the suspect car for additional evidence related to the burglaries and attempted burglaries.
Three suspects were arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail:
All three suspects will have their first court appearance today at 1:30 p.m. Macklin and Newkirk both have prolific criminal histories, including previous convictions for Burglary and Attempted Burglary. As the investigation into this case and additional burglaries continue, more charges for the suspects are anticipated.
