Spokane Police respond to a report of a bomb threat. No explosives were located. The suspect, 44-year-old David J. Maslo was arrested for Threats to Bomb or Injure Property.
Yesterday, 4/15/2014 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Spokane Police responded to a report of a bomb threat at the Hilton Garden Inn (9000 West Hwy 2). The report indicated that a man had entered the hotel earlier that morning (approximately 8 a.m.) and wandered around the lobby for several hours. The man demonstrated disruptive behavior and was asked to leave the property. The report stated that as the male was exiting the hotel (at approximately 11 a.m.), he indicated that there was a bomb in the backpack he had left in the lobby of the building. As a precaution, guests at the hotel were evacuated. Spokane Police Officers and the Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) quickly responded to the location. EDU technicians inspected the backpack and found there were no explosives inside.
Spokane Police located the suspect, 44-year-old David J. Maslo, at a restaurant near the hotel. He was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Threats to Bomb or Injure Property. Maslo will appear in court today at 1:30 p.m.
Upon further investigation, SPD officers learned Maslo had a flight reservation earlier in the day, but was asked to leave and escorted out of the airport due to disruptive behavior. He was contacted by Airport Police and left the location.
