Spokane Police respond to a report of a vehicle theft suspect ramming a citizen’s car while trying to flee. Roscoe Wood (24 years old) was arrested on two counts of 2nd Degree Assault, two counts of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and one count of 2nd Degree Malicious Mischief.

On 04-24-2014, at approximately 12 pm, citizens called police after seeing a subject painting a vehicle with house paint and a squeegee in the 5700 block of north Regal. Suspecting the vehicle was stolen, the citizen blocked in the vehicle with their car. The suspect then rammed the citizen’s car, but when he realized he couldn’t escape, he fled on foot. The citizens chased the suspect down and there was a physical altercation.

A homeowner came out with handgun and held the suspect at gun point until officers arrived on scene minutes later. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Roscoe Wood, was taken into custody without further incident. Wood was also arrested less than a week ago at Chief Garry Park (04-17-2014) for possession of stolen vehicle. Wood was booked into the Spokane County Jail on two counts of 2nd Degree Assault, two counts of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and one count of 2nd Degree Malicious Mischief.

Thankfully, no citizens were injured in this incident. Anyone who observes suspicious activity is encouraged to call 911. In this instance, we were able to arrive on scene within minutes of the initial call to 911.
