Spokane Police arrest homicide suspect hours after incident

Spokane Police Major Crimes detectives have arrested Michael W. Baesman (36 years old) for 2nd Degree Murder in connection to Homicide which occurred this morning at the Downtowner Motel. Investigation into this incident, which appears to be Domestic Violence-related, is ongoing. Detectives do not believe there are any outstanding suspects.

This morning, 1/15/2015, at approximately 5:50 am, Spokane Police received a report of a potential Domestic Violence Assault, possibly occurring at the Downtowner Motel (100 block of S. Washington St.). Officers responded to the location minutes after the call and located a deceased female in one of the rooms.

 

Officers obtained information indicating the victim’s boyfriend may be involved in the incident. Follow up was conducted to locate the possible suspect, identified as Michael Baesman. He was contacted at a gas station in the area of Illinois and Hamilton. Baseman was taken into custody without incident. He has been arrested for 2nd Degree Murder.

 

At this time, investigators are serving a search warrant at the hotel to process the location for evidence.

Investigation into this incident is ongoing, however detectives do not believe there are any additional outstanding suspects.
