Spokane Police responded to the 3200 block of E 44th this afternoon looking for 55 year old Michael R Bird. Bird was a suspect in a felony assault on a family member from October 18th. The victim believed she saw Bird near a bus stop at 53rd and S Regal street earlier today.
The victim thought Bird was wearing body armor and was possibly armed.
Officers searched several areas in Spokane before a patrol officer spotted Bird on E 44th. Due to the seriousness of the crime and the possibility of Bird being armed, numerous officers responded to the area and set up a perimeter.
A search with one of Spokane PD's K9 units located Bird shortly after the track started.
Bird was taken in to custody without incident.
The Spokane Police would like to thank the citizens in the area for their cooperation. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at 509.456.2233.
