A sworn employee of the Spokane Police Division has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a criminal investigation. The alleged incident happened in Spokane County and is being investigated by Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
The sworn employee has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a criminal investigation involving an alleged sexual assault where the victim was known to the employee. The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning, Oct. 25th , 2015 in Spokane County. An Internal Affairs investigation will proceed after the conclusion of the criminal investigation.
Pursuant to the following case law, we will not be releasing the officer’s name: A police officer's identity in connection with an allegation of sexual misconduct is withheld pursuant to Bainbridge Island Police Guild v. City of Puyallup, 172 Wn.2d 398, 404, 259 P.3d 190, 192, 2011 Wash. LEXIS 660, *1 (Wash. 2011).
