The Spokane Police Department is confirming there has been one fatality that can be attributed to the current severe wind conditions. Conditions are still severe and we are continuing to advise citizens to shelter in place. Only call 911 in the case of life threatening emergency.

Spokane Fire Department received a call just before 3:30pm this afternoon of a tree that had knocked down power lines in the 1500 block of west 14th. Several minutes later, the call was updated indicating the tree was on top of an unresponsive female.

Fire crews responded but were unable to resuscitate the victim. At this time it is confirmed the victim was a female in her 50’s, but her identity will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s office once next of kin have been notified.
