Members of the media are invited to attend the Spokane Police Department Basic K-9 Academy graduation Thursday, December 10th at 6:00 pm at the Spokane Police Academy, 2302 N. Waterworks St. in Spokane. Media will be able to see the new K-9s running through obstacle courses and performing searches at 5:00pm.
After 400 hours and 10 weeks of training, one K-9 and handler from the Spokane Police Department and three other K-9’s and handlers from the region will be graduating. Handlers and Patrol K-9’s learn obedience, building searches, article searches, and tracking during their training at the academy. At the conclusion of this training they will continue to train with their respective agencies to begin working the streets to locate criminals and make the streets safer for citizens and Officers.
