Spokane Police Major Crimes Detectives have arrested William Bassett Jr. (54) for 2nd Murder. During the missing persons investigation, detectives were able to develop probable cause to believe Wanda Bush was the victim of a homicide. Investigators are now seeking a search warrant for the residence the two shared.
Today, Jan. 30, 2016, just after 11:30am, Spokane Police received a call of a missing elderly female, Wanda Bush, from her residence in the 3400 block of west Hoffman. The call was placed by Bush’s son, William Bassett, who lives at the residence as well. Patrol officers initiated an investigation and search for Bush. During their investigation, suspicious circumstances arose, so the Major Crimes Unit was called in to assist.
In the course of their investigation, Major Crimes Detectives developed probable cause to believe Bush was the victim of homicide. Bassett was taken into custody and will be booked for 2nd Degree Murder. Detectives are currently seeking a search warrant to process the home for evidence.
