The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit is investigating the discovery of a body near the 1700 block of north River Vista. Officers responded to the report of a body in the river near that location this afternoon. Once on scene, they located a deceased female.

This afternoon, May 20, 2016, just before 12:30pm, Spokane Police Officers responded to the report of a body in the Spokane River near the 1700 block of north River Vista.  Responding officers discovered a deceased female in the water. The Major Crimes Unit was then called in to assist in the investigation.

It is unclear at this time how the female may have died. Right now the scene is being processed as a crime scene until detectives can definitively determine what happened.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help identifying the female. She appears to be a young (possibly college age) female of unknown race, approximately 5’3” to 5’5” tall, with a medium build, dark, straight hair and dark colored eyes. She is also wearing the black “No-Li Brewery” hooded sweatshirt in the attached picture.

Anyone with information on this incident or who the decedent may be is asked to call Crime check at 509-456-2233.
