PACT Team Recovers Large Amount of Stolen Property Traded for Drugs

The Spokane Police Patrol Anti-Crime Team (PACT) recovered thousands of dollars’ worth of property, likely stolen, that was traded for drugs. Jeffrey S Rise (61) was booked for 3 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver. Additionally, charges of 2nd Degree Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and 2nd Degree Trafficking in Stolen Property will be sought after the PACT served a search warrant on his home in the 1700 block of east Rich.

The PACT Team’s work, the culmination of a drug investigation that started in March, ended with the service of a search warrant on May 8, 2017, just after 5:00pm at Rise’s house and vehicle in the 1700 block of east Rich. During the search warrant, the PACT team found heroin, methamphetamine and prescription pills along with over $800 in cash. They also found and seized thousands of dollars’ worth of apparently stolen property that was used to trade for drugs. The investigation at the house lead them to a storage unit where more property was discovered, including a Remington 870-12 gauge shotgun stolen in a burglary in 2016. Most of the property was still in the boxes and is believed to have been stolen from local retail stores; however some of it did appeared to belong to individuals. All of the property has been placed at the police evidence facility.

PACT determined Rise either pawned the property he received or sold it on internet sites like Craig’s List, EBay, and Offer Up. This is a reminder for citizens to use caution when making purchases from sites like that; if it’s too good to be true, it likely is!

Rise was booked into jail on May 8, but has since has been released on his own recognizance.
